Mold infestations can be caused by minor water intrusions, like a slow roof leak or loose plumbing fitting. Every hour spent cleaning up is an hour of lost revenue and productivity. If you suspect your property has a mold problem, call  SERVPRO of South Jefferson County, who will respond quickly and work fast to manage the situation.

Facts about Mold

Facts about Mold

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.
Did you know?

Did you know?

Confusion and misunderstanding surround the topic of mold and mold remediation. Some restoration businesses even make claims to remove all mold from a building. This is a fallacy. Mold spores occur naturally almost everywhere, both indoors and outdoors. These microscopic spores float along in the air and can enter a home or business through windows and HVAC systems.

SERVPRO of Birmingham is expanding!

SERVPRO of Birmingham is expanding!

SERVPRO Industries, Inc. was founded in 1967. SERVPRO of Birmingham has been proud to serve the communities of Jefferson and Shelby counties since 1984. In 2007, we had outgrown our existing facilities, so we had to relocate some of our staff in multiple facilities in the Pelham and Chelsea/Westover areas. In January 2015, we broke ground on a 3-phase building project, designed to bring us all back into one location. Phase one was complete in December 2015, and now we are currently in phase two. We hope to complete this phase sometime in October, with a ribbon cutting in early November. Check out the progress!
